I once went through Derby and dropped a ten commandment coin into a buskers guitar case. To my suprise, instead of stopping (which has happened before with buskers), the guy singing changed his lyrics to 'what the h**l is that?!' Later I looked back and saw at the end of the song, that the band members all gathered around with the lead singer to read it!

I had a phonecall today from someone who had a Gospel Tract through their letterbox (this happens now now and again). The person was angry that it implied he was going to hell. I said they are only going to hell if they die without Jesus Christ. Please pray for this guy and his family. He has a JW background and is quite angry about his upbringing. When I pressed him about things he believed he backed off. But that man has read and heard the Gospel today. Lets pray God brings the increase.

I get a very large amount of tract requests from all over the globe, and I am a one man band with this, that tries to fit it around a full time job and large family. 1. Tracts are the Gospel prayerfully extended from the scriptures: outstretched arms of love where many may never read a Bible, enter a Church or talk with a believer.

2. An uncompromised silent preacher: a bridge from the lost to conversation with (or in addition to contact with) the believer: A 'jigsaw piece' or 'seed' in the Lord's plan of redemption.

3. The words of men are weak and changeable, but the Word of God is powerful and lasts forever.

4. Circumstances can make difficult the message to share, but the tract can be prayerfully transferred in a moment.

5. They work with/for all manner of Christian, bold or fearful, to meet the desires/burden of their hearts: to reach the world, (fulfilling the great commision): strangers, friends and loved ones with the urgent truth of His Gospel.

These, and many other portions of truth from the Bible, are the message we are seeking to proclaim to the lost world around us. We communicate these life-giving truths to people by our words and by our actions. The words of men are weak and changeable, but the Word of God is powerful and lasts forever.
How can we best communicate the message of the Glorious Gospel to those around us, especially to those with whom we only come in contact briefly? The God-ordained method of proclaiming the truth of the Scriptures is preaching (1 Corinthians 1:21). Preaching would normally be in the form of a gathering of people, a Bible study, or in a conversation with someone. Tracts should help us to share words of life and truth with the lost people around us. Most of the lost world that we are seeking to reach will never enter a church building to hear the truth proclaimed through preaching from a pulpit. So, we must go to the people with the precious seed of the Gospel!
Gospel tracts, sometimes referred to as « Paper Missionaries » or « Silent Preachers », are very useful to start a conversation about God and eternity and plant a seed of the Gospel. There have been untold millions who have been reached by the message of the Gospel through this method. In my own life I discovered a gospel tract on the ground in the subway system in one of the major cities on the east coast. That gospel tract was one of many things God used to work in my life and to draw me to Himself.
A good gospel tract contains portions of Scripture and an exhortation to the reader to turn to God. The purpose of gospel tracts is not to entertain people but to stir their spirits and challenge their intellect. A tract should not give the wrong message concerning what true Christianity is all about. After all, no one can be tricked into becoming a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. The « new birth » is not signing your name at the end of a gospel tract or a Bible. The goal of every good gospel tract is to show the readers their need of a Savior and to point them to Christ, because one day we will all stand before a Holy God.
If we are truly burdened for those around us, then we will look for ways to reach them for Christ. It is important to be ready to share the gospel any time we are in contact with people, one-on-one or in a group. Since we are planting the seed of the gospel, we may not see many visible results immediately, but we can be certain that God is at work even when we are not aware of it or cannot actually see what He is doing in lives. Gospel tracts are a very good tool to reach students on a university campus, people at a bus stop, walking in the streets, at the bakery, cinema, newsstand, a park, beach, etc. People may read the gospel tracts at the time they receive them or sometimes even much later.
It is good to be reminded that the « Paper Missionaries » or « Silent Preachers » can go on speaking to people long after we have no further contact with them. Even if they are thrown away, someone may later pick them up and read them. The Apostle Paul said, « I might by any means save some. » If Paul had access to the printed page as we do, we can be sure that he would carry his convictions to the full. We should all carry gospel tracts with us everywhere we go and open our eyes to hundreds of opportunities before us, to either give them to an individual or simply leave them behind (phone booth, elevator, bus seat, etc.).
We are called to go and share the good news of forgiveness of sins and eternal life with those around us. It is very easy to distribute Gospel tracts; they are very effective in starting a conversation that leads into the full gospel message. We should use tracts constant and frequently… just because God can use them in lives.

TIP to share the Gospel

Look up the free magazines or newspapers in your area. Find out how much it costs to get an insert placed. Order 1,000 Gospel tracts (or however many the minimum is for inserts) from www.freetractsource.co.uk and pay for them to be added to the publication. At best 1000 people get to read and ponder eternal things, at worst one person gets to.

I just found a local magazine that will do inserts for £18+VAT per thousand and the minimum is 1,000 to go in the months issue.

They may refuse the leaflet because of the content... but one would have to ask what grounds and if it is descrimination... at best, a landmark case to free others to do it. At worst, publicity on the Christian Insitute and hopefully more people hear the Gospel as a result through secular investigation!

"Jesse Boyd was preaching in Kathmandu yesterday & he was pestered by a Hindu woman who came in his face. Jesse writes: "A woman had been watching the exchange. She approached and with true joy on her face thanked me for my bold words to that Hindu sadhu. She complimented me on my language skills and ability to communicate the Gospel in her language...and thanked us for distributing the tracts and Scripture booklets. She shared how she had picked up a tract at the Mission Hospital in Nepal 20 years ago. She had pondered the Gospel message contained therein for 4 years and then gave her life to Jesus Christ. Her testimony was proof that the distribution of Gospel literature is not in vain though it may appear so. For, the results may not come until years later. We provided this lady with some materials and encouraged her to be a bold witness for Jesus Christ. She was so happy about our preaching, a true encouragement sent from the Lord.""

I do not believe that you Christians believe your own creed--for if you were persuaded that things really are as your Bibles teach, and that we poor lost people were really going to such a dreadful place as you say Hell is--then you would act more humanely toward us.

If you saw our houses on fire--you would run and help us to put the fire out; or if you saw us in danger of death--you would try to do something to save us. But you pretend to believe that we are going to Hell, and that Hell burns with fire and brimstone forever, and that once there we can never get out--and yet you talk to us about all sorts of things--but never say one word to us about saving our souls from this terrible doom!

So I have reasoned thus: either you Christians don't believe what you say--or else you must be the most hardened and unfeeling wretches in the universe! Now, as I don't believe that you are such cruel, hardened, and unfeeling people as this supposes--then I must conclude that, with all your talk--you Christians don't really believe what your Bibles teach!

For if you really believe what you say about sin, and Hell, and our danger--then you would act differently; and if you have a spark of kindness in your hearts--you would try to save us from such a dreadful doom. And, on the other hand, if you do not believe what you profess--then you Christians cannot be honest; and to say the least, there must be a great deal of hypocrisy among you.

Now, I honestly tell you that these are the things which have stumbled me more than anything, and until I can see you Christians act differently--I will not be persuaded to believe what your sort of folks say.

Leaving A Tract For A Waitress
Sumner Wemp is a widely known Baptist evangelist

who has been a steady advocate for the use of Gospel

Tracts for decades. During one of his trips, Sumner

had stopped in a restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah

for lunch. As was his habit, after the waitress took

his order he shared a Gospel tract with her and politely

asked her to read it when she had the time. A short time

later she brought his lunch and then left to wait on a

few other tables. Later she came by to check on Sumner,

and she said, "I read your little paper." Sumner said,

"Great!" "I did not know that," she said. "You did not

know what?" Sumner asked.
"I did not know that Christ suffered for my sins," she

said with her eyes full of tears. Sumner’s heart leaped

for joy, and he quickly said, "Christ really did suffer

and die for your sins. He took the punishment and paid

the debt for all we have ever done wrong and
then rose again from the grave. He is alive today, and

we can know Him personally." Then he carefully explained

the Gospel and how we are not saved by our works but by

what Christ did on the cross.
When Sumner asked if the waitress understood what he had

told her, she said, "Yes, I see that now." He asked her

if shed wanted to trust Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Almost crying now, she decided to Trust in Christ for

eternal life. She had assurance that now she
was truly saved. She had served Sumner a meal that would

feed him for a few hours, but he had introduced her to

the Bread of Life (John 6:35) that would save her for

eternity— all because he shared a simple Gospel Tract.

When we Truly care about seeking to save that which is

lost, we will do ALL that we can to get the Gospel Truth

into the hands of the lost. This includes doing things as

simple as leaving a Gospel Tract with a waitress (along

with a generous tip of course)."

halloween is coming soon.... be ready!

Halloween will soon we once again upon us. Its good to use this to reach out to children with the Gospel.

Here are a few tips. In your window, place a sign welcoming trick or treaters. Buy some food backs and fill them with some sweets. within the bag you could place some 10 commandment coins which you can buy here (these are also great tracts to give to buskers on the streets). Hand these out to children who come round for halloween.

another way to share the Gospel

Our other website (www.weartheGospel.co.uk) has a great way of sharing the Gospel without you even saying a word! Now I am not really a fan of the so called Francis of Assisi quote "Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary." Because the reality is, "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17. Having said that, I have personally worn t-shirts that I know people have read, even out loud when i go to the checkout at supermarkets (I have had conversations with people because of them reading the t-shirts too), when on the street etc. These ways of sharing the faith should not replace preaching the Word, however I think its a great way of sharing truth when you can't get to say something to people. Below you will find information about designing your own, and on the main website you will find over 60 designs to choose from (click the images below to go to the website). PLUS, with every order you will be sent FREE Gospel tracts.
Remember to pray that the Lord would be glorified through the reading of the clothing and tracts!

Reach into your neighbourhood....

Having recently moved house, I came across a noticeboard at my local newsagents. They charge for you to put up an A6 noticeand I thought that this would be a good place to put an advert for free Bibles.

As I was writing the notice i thought that this would actually be a good idea for a door to door tract. Aswell as something to keep handy for when you pass such a shop that will advertise (i think supermarkets havesections for advertising such things), its a good way of seeing who is interested in the things of God.

Its good to stock some Bibles to be ready. (click the link to the right to find the lowest price suppliers I can find)

Somewhere else to leave your Gospel tracts...

While walking around a supermarket near my new home in Eastleigh, Hampshire, I was trying to think of new places to leave tracts. I have recently realised I need to hand out more / place more somehow. Casting my mind back to ideas i have read in the past, few take advantage of the vast area of supermarket shelving. Then I realised a great place to put them. Along with the toilets and books, a good place to put them is between cans of multipack items. These can range from baked beans to cans of beer. look out for these because if you fold your tract up and push it inbetween the cans, it won't leave the product until the cans are seperated by the customer when they get home.

Can I encourage you to re-visit the list of where to leave tracts, because I am sure you won't remember them all.

Here is the list again, with the above addition. Why not Print it off and stick it on your fridge!

1. It is currently NOT against the law to hand out Christian literature on public property here is the law for the UK. Please enquire about any other laws that may prohibit distribution on private property. For example, in Coventry, most of the town centre is private property so permission must be sought from the council.
2. Always ask God to use you, seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit for each tract placed, and then pray for the Lord of harvest to bless it.

- Put some in a plastic holder or envelope by your door, to give to anyone who comes to your door, and as a reminder to take some with you when you leave the house.

It is SO exciting the way in which this website has developed. In less than a year, this website has been able to offer you over 10 new designs for FREE!

The tracts have gone all over the world! Thats tens of thousands of people who have been able to read our wonderful Gospel through these tracts! AMAZING!!

I would also like to say a BIG thank you to all who have asked to post them some (and have been patient with the postage times too!). Thank you to all those who have been very generous in donationing towards the re-production of the tracts and the postage costs. Please continue leaving me feedback for the designs and any ideas you have for future tracts.

I wanted to let you know two things. Firstly, every page that you see a tract design, you will now be able to download the design to print it off yourself. If you need help getting them mass - printed then please let me know.

Halloween report.....

Just thought I would write up a little about halloween and whats been going on with the tracts. Firstly, I have had a MASSIVE response to the tracts, I certainly don't have as much to store for next year as I gave away and handed out this year! and I had 10,000 in stock! Praise God!

Below are some images and videos of whats been going on. But only from my limited point of view.

Sadly, for myself, on the actual night of halloween, I did'nt get many bagged sweets with tracts handed out (as I was away). But I am happy knowing some went out at my mum's house (and over at my Aunt's).

Before halloween, a reported 40,000 people attended a 'fright night' in Sheffield (http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/Sheffield39s-Fright-Night--Your.5765215.jp) where I managed to go with about 9 other Christians to hand out tractsand do some one to one witnessing. Others preached, hand out tracts and did some one to ones with many lost souls.

I found it all overwhelming to be honest (incredible the number of people celebrating such darkness). We managed to pass out thousands of tracts (many were reading them - infact i was told later, someone burnt one as a reaction). Preaching was drawing people, but the police moved a lot on. Some that were able to stay had some interaction with whoever was preaching at the time. Some great one to ones were going on. The ones I had were mainly mocking, but I pressed the truth regardless. There were about 4 banners with scripture on that attracted people to many conversations (many read these and mocked, and many did not mock). Some Bibles were also taken and dvds.

1. It is currently NOT against the law to hand out Christian literature on public property here is the law for the UK. Please enquire about any other laws that may prohibit distribution on private property. For example, in Coventry, most of the town centre is private property so permission must be sought from the council.
2. Always ask God to use you, seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit for each tract placed, and then pray for the Lord of harvest to bless it.

The Law regarding handing out of tracts in the UK

The Clean Neighbourhoods and Environmental Act 2005 (CNEA) gives power to local authorites to control distribution of free literature in places such as town centres. This legislation only applies to England and Wales. The new council powers aim to prevent litter caused by large numbers of handbills handed out by nightclubs and other businesses. Sometimes the police work with local councils to ensure that the law is enforced.

The CNEA 2005 amens Schedule 3A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA). Section 1 (1) of schedule 3A states :

"A person commites an offense if he distributes any free printed matter without the consent of a principle litter authority on any land which is designated by the authority under this schedule where the person knows that the land is so designated."

However, section 1 (4) of schedule 3A provides a very clear exemption for the distribution of religious or political literature and for charities. It says; (4) nothing in this paragraph applies to the distribution of printed matter: a. by or on behalf of a charity within the meaning of the Charity Act 1993, where the printed matter relates to or is intended for the benefit of the charity; b. where the distribution is for political purposes or for the purpose of a religion or a belief.

The CNEA 2005 cannot be used to impose restrictions on giving out Christian literature in public.

Christians can distribute tracts, Bibles and Christian in their town centres without having to seek permission from the local authority.

Any attempt by a council to limit this activity would appear, in our view, to be an unlawful breach of the right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, as enshrined in the Human Rights Act 1998.

What to do:

If the Police or local authority attempt to reply on the CNEA 2005 to impose restrictions on handing out Christian literature in the open air on public land, give them a copy of section 1 (4). (you could print out this page.) They should be asked for an official apology, in writing. (this helps to ensure it won't happen to other Christians: see Acts 16:37-39.)

They should also be asked to confirm that section 1 (4) of Schedule 3 will be brough to the attention of other police officers or council officials so the mistake will not be repeated.

The following is from R. A. Torrey's larger work, "Methods of Christian Work " (Chapter 5, pages 213-221)

Comparatively few Christians realize the importance of tract work. I had been a Christian a good many years, and a minister of the Gospel several years, before it ever entered my head that tracts were of much value in Christian work. I had somehow grown up with the notion that tracts were all rubbish, and therefore I did not take the trouble to read them, and far less did I take the trouble to circulate them, but I found out that I was entirely wrong. Tract work has some great advantages over other forms of Christian work.
I. Importance and advantages.

1. Any person can do it. We cannot all preach; we cannot all conduct meetings; but we can all select useful tracts and then hand them out to others. Of course some of us can do it better than others. Even a blind man or a dumb man can do tract work. It is a line of work in which every man, woman and child can engage.

2. A tract always sticks to the point. I wish every worker did that, but how often we get to talking to some one and he is smart enough to get us off on to a side track.

3. A tract never loses its temper. Perhaps you sometimes do. I have known Christian workers, even workers of experience, who would sometimes get all stirred up, but you cannot stir up a tract It always remains as calm as a June morning.

4. Oftentimes people who are too proud to be talked with, will read a tract when no one is looking. There is many a man who would repulse you if you tried to speak to him about his soul, who will read a tract if you leave it on his table, or in some other place where he comes upon it accidentally, and that tract may be used for his salvation.

5. A tract stays by one. You talk to a man and then he goes away, but the tract stays with him. Some years ago a man came into a mission in New York. One of the workers tried to talk with him, but he would not listen. As he was leaving, a card tract was placed in his hands which read, "If I should die to-night I would go to ______ Please fill out and sign." He put it in his pocket, went to his steamer, for he was a sailor, and slipped it into the edge of his bunk. The steamer started for Liverpool. On his voyage he met with an accident, and was laid aside in his bunk. That card stared him in the face, day and night. Finally he said, "If I should die tonight I would go to hell, but I will not go there, I will go to heaven, I will take Christ right here and now." He went to Liverpool, returned to New York, went to the mission, told his story, and had the card, which was still in his pocket, filled out and signed with his name. The conversation he had had in the mission left him, but the card stayed by him.

6. Tracts lead many to accept Christ. The author of one tract ("What is it to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?") received before his death upwards of sixteen hundred letters from people who had been led to Christ by reading it.
II. Purposes for which to use a tract.

1. For the conversion of the unsaved. A tract will often succeed in winning a man to Christ where a sermon or a personal conversation has failed. There are a great many people who, if you try to talk with them, will put you off; but if you put a tract in their hands and ask God to bless it, after they go away and are alone they will read the tract and God will carry it home to their hearts by the power of the Holy Ghost. One of our students wrote me in great joy of how he had at last succeeded in winning a whole family for Christ. He had been working for that family for a long time but could not touch them. One day he left a tract with them, and God used that tract for the conversion of four or five members of the family. Another student held a cottage meeting at a home, and by mistake left his Bible there. There was a tract in the Bible. When he had gone, the woman of the house saw the Bible, picked it up, opened it, saw the tract and read it. The Spirit of God carried it home to her heart, and when he went back after the Bible she told him she wanted to find the Lord Jesus Christ. The tract had done what he could not do in personal work. I once received a letter from a man saying, "There is a man in this place whom I tried for a long time to reach but could not. One day I handed him a tract, and I think it was to the salvation of his whole family.

2. To lead Christians into a deeper and more earnest Christian life. It is a great mistake to limit the use of tracts to winning the unsaved to Christ. A little tract on the Second Coming of Christ, once sent me in a letter, made a change in my whole life. I do not think the tract was altogether correct doctrinally, but it had in it an important truth, and it did for me just the work that needed to be done.

There is a special class of people with whom this form of ministry is particularly helpful, those who live where they do not enjoy spiritual advantages. You may know some one who is leading a very unsatisfactory life, and you long to have that person know what the Christian life really means. His pastor may not be a spiritual man, he may not know the deep things of God. It is the simplest thing in the world to slip into a letter a tract that will lead him into an entirely new Christian life.

3. To correct error. This is a very necessary form of work in the day in which we live. The air is full of error. In our personal work we have not always time to lead a man out of his error, but oftentimes we can give him a tract that can do the work better than we can. If you tried to lead him out of his error by personal work, you might get into a discussion, but the tract cannot. The one in error cannot talk back to the tract. For example, take people that are in error on the question of seventh day observance. It might take some time to lead such a one out of the darkness into the light, but a tract on that subject can be secured that has been used of God to lead many out of the bondage of legalism into the glorious liberty of the Gospel of Christ.

4. To set Christians to work. Our churches are full of members who are doing nothing. A well-chosen tract may set such to work. I know of a young man who was working in a factory in Massachusetts. He was a plain, uneducated sort of fellow, but a little tract on personal work was placed in his hands. He read it and re-read it, and said, "I am not doing what I should for Christ." He went to work among his companions in the factory, inviting them to the church, and to hear his pastor preach. Not satisfied with this, he went to doing personal work. This was not sufficient, so he went to work holding meetings himself. Finally he brought a convention to his city. Just that one plain factory man was the means of getting a great convention and blessing to that place, and all from reading that little tract. He was also instrumental in organizing a society which was greatly blessed of God. It would be possible to fill this country with literature on Christian work that would stir up the dead and sleeping professors of religion throughout the land, and send them out to work for the Lord Jesus Christ
III. Who should use tracts.

1. Ministers of the Gospel should use them. Many ministers do make constant use of them in their pastoral work, leaving well chosen tracts where they make their pastoral calls, handing out tracts along the line of the sermons that they preach. It is said of Rev. Edward Judson of New York, that he seldom makes a call without having in his pocket a selection of tracts adapted to almost every member of the family, and especially to the children. "At the close of the Sunday evening preaching service, he has often put some good brother in the chair, and while the meeting proceeds he goes down into the audience and gives to each person a choice leaflet, at the same time taking the opportunity to say a timely word. In this way he comes into personal touch with the whole audience, gives each stranger a cordial welcome, and leaves in his hand some message from God. At least once a year he selects some one tract that has in it the very core of the Gospel. On this he prints the notices of the services, and selecting his church as a center, he has this tract put in the hands of every person living within half a mile in each direction, regardless of creed or condition. He sometimes uses 10,000 tracts at one distribution, and finds it very fruitful in results."

2. Sunday School teachers. Every Sunday School teacher should be on the lookout for tracts to give to his scholars. In this way he can do much to supplement his hour's work on the Lord's Day.

3. Traveling men. Traveling men have a rare opportunity for doing tract work. They are constantly coming in contact with different men, and finding out their needs. A Christian "drummer" with a well-assorted selection of tracts can accomplish immeasurable good.

4. Business men. Business men can use tracts to good advantage with the very men with whom they have business engagements. They can also do excellent work with their own employees. Many a business man slips well chosen tracts into many of the letters which he writes, and thus accomplishes an effective ministry for his Master.

5. School teachers. It is very difficult for school teachers in some cities and towns to talk very much with their pupils in school. Oftentimes the rules of the school board prevent it entirely, but a wise teacher can learn all about her scholars and their home surroundings, and can give them tracts just adapted to their needs.

6. Housekeepers. Every Christian housekeeper should have a collection of well assorted tracts. She can hand these out to the servant girls, the grocery men, the market men, the butcher, to the tramps that come to the door. They can be left upon the table in the parlor and in bedrooms. Only eternity will disclose the good that is accomplished in these ways.
IV. How to use tracts.

1. To begin a conversation. One of the difficulties in Christian work is to begin. You see a person with whom you wish to talk about the Lord Jesus Christ. The great difficulty is in starting. It is easy enough to talk after you have started, but how are you going to start a conversation naturally and easily? One of the simplest and easiest ways is by slipping a tract into the person's hand. After the tract has been read, a conversation naturally follows. I was once riding in a crowded car. I asked God for an opportunity to lead some one to Christ. I was watching for the opportunity for which I had asked, when two young ladies entered. I thought I knew one of them as the daughter of a minister. She went through the car looking for a seat, and then came back. As she came back and sat down in the seat in front of me, she bowed, and of course I knew I was right as to who she was. I took out a little bundle of tracts, and selecting one that seemed best adapted to her case, I handed it to her, having first asked God to bless it. She at once began to read and I began to pray. When she had read the tract, I asked her what she thought about it. She almost burst into tears right there in the car, and in a very few moments that minister's daughter was rejoicing in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. As she afterwards passed out of the car, she said, "I want to thank you for what you have done for me in leading me to Christ."

2. Use a tract to close a conversation. As a rule when you have finished talking with some one, you should not leave him without something definite to take home to read. If the person has accepted Christ, put some tract in his hands that will show him how to succeed in the Christian life. If the person has not accepted Christ, some other tract that is especially adapted to his need should be left with him.

3. Use tracts where a conversation is impossible. For example, one night at the close of a tent meeting in Chicago, as I went down one of the aisles a man beckoned to me, and intimated that his wife was interested. She was in tears, and I tried to talk with her, but she stammered out in a broken way, "We don't talk English." She had not understood a word of the sermon, I suppose, but God had carried something home to her heart. They were Norwegians, and I could not find a Norwegian in the whole tent to act as interpreter, but I could put a Norwegian tract in her hand, and that could do the work. Time and time again I have met with men deeply interested about their soul's salvation, but with whom I could not deal because I did not talk the language that they understood.

One day as I came from dinner, I found a Swede waiting for me, and he said he had a man outside with whom he wished me to talk. I went outside and found an uncouth looking specimen, a Norwegian. The Swede had found him drunk in an alley and dragged him down to the Institute to talk with me. He was still full of whisky, and spit tobacco juice over me as I tried to talk with him. I found he could not talk English, and I talked English to the Swede, and the Swede talked Swedish to the Norwegian, and the Norwegian got a little bit of it. I made it as clear as I could to our Swede interpreter, and he in his turn made it as clear as he could to the Norwegian. Then I put a Norwegian tract in his hands, and that could talk to him so that he understood perfectly.

Oftentimes a conversation is impossible because of the place where you meet people. For example, you may be on the street cars and wish to speak to a man, but in many instances it would not be wise if it were possible, but you can take the man's measure and then give him a tract that will fit him. You may be able to say just a few words to him and then put the tract in his hands and ask God to bless it.

4. Use tracts to send to people at a distance. It does not cost a tract much to travel. You can send them to the ends of the earth for a few cents. Especially use them to send to people who live in out of the way places where there is no preaching. There are thousands of people living in different sections of this country where they do not hear preaching from one year's end to another. It would be impossible to send an evangelical preacher to them, but you can send a tract and it will do the preaching for you.
V. Suggestions as to the use of tracts.

1. Always read the tracts yourself before giving them to others. This is very necessary. Bad tracts abound to-day, tracts that contain absolutely pernicious doctrine. They are being circulated free by the million, and one needs to be on his guard, lest he be doing harm rather than good in distributing tracts. Of course we cannot read all the tracts in foreign languages, but we can have them interpreted to us, and it is wise to do so. Besides positively bad tracts, there are many tracts that are worthless.

2. Suit your tract to the person to whom you give it. What is good for one person may not be good for another.

3. Carry a selection of tracts with you. I do not say a collection, but a selection. Tracts are countless in number, and a large share of them are worthless. Select the best, and arrange them for the different classes of people with whom you come in contact.

4. Seek the guidance of God. This is of the very highest importance. If there is any place where we need wisdom from above, it is in the selection of tracts, and in their distribution after their selection.

5. Seek God's blessing upon the tract after you have given it out. Do not merely give out the tract and there let the matter rest, but whenever you give out a tract ask God to bless it.

6. Oftentimes give a man a tract with words and sentences underscored. Men are curious, and they will take particular notice of the underscoring. It is oftentimes a good thing to have a tract put up in your office. Men who come in will read it. I know a man who had a few words put upon his paper weight. A great many who came into his office saw it, and it made a deep impression upon them.

7. Never be ashamed of distributing tracts. Many people hand out tracts to others as if they were ashamed of what they were doing. People are not likely to read tracts if you hand them to them as if you were ashamed to do it; but if you act as though you were conferring a favor upon them, and giving them something worth reading, they will read your tract. It is often well to say to a person, "Here is a little leaflet out of which I have gotten a good deal of good. I would like to have you read it."

Hello! I am SO excited about this!

What this website is set up to do is simply further the Gospel wherever possible... a great way of doing this is using tracts. So I figured that it would be good to offer people tracts for free as I just ordered a load for myself but am not getting out witnessing as much as I would like (my wife and I are expecting a baby very soon). So I thought what better place to start than to offer the tracts I have as free gifts to people who can make good use of them. Praying for the souls who take them in faith that God's Word will not just change them but the very families and friends they meet. A generation can be changed by the power of God!

So, I will try and find as much free stuff to help you as I can to share the Gospel. Starting with tracts. These will be send out as long as I have some and can afford to post them. Donations are welcome if you are led to do so. But ultimately what is important to me is that the seeds are scattered.
